Mission

The ACP mission is to support new modes of public thought and social action that increase opportunities for everyday people to pursue their mutual well being. ACP develops strategies and techniques that use Art and New Media as principle tools for social action. Through its work, ACP as a catalyst inspires people to self-organize, initiate, implement and sustain social actions. ACP provides tools, strategic frameworks and networks that support socially opportunistic activism or people using whatever they have to catalyze, facilitate and connect with each other to cause social change. ACP demands that social thought and political power be accessible to all members of society. ACP calls this paradigm, accessible rarity. Accessible rarity takes what is rare and exclusive to some and makes it accessible to everyone.

Vision

ACP activities engage large and diverse groups of people to work non-hierarchically and collaboratively on social actions in their communities and on the Internet. The ACP focus begins in communities where adverse social, political and economic conditions undermine opportunities for people to attain well being.

Values & Principles

ACP maintains that mutual well being is non-negotiable if we are to create a social paradigm that allows for humane and sustainable co-existence
ACP insists on people-driven solutions and actions to cause change
ACP believes in making what is rare to some accessible to all
ACP demands social policies be based on mutual benefit rather than hierarchical advantage
ACP addresses issues contextually and prioritizes the assets of a community disempowering its deficits

What is Mutual Well-Being?

Mutual well being is when all people are able to benefit mutually from natures resources, technological advances and human progress.

When is Mutual Well-Being Achieved?

When the cost of one persons advancement does not come at the expense of others.

How did ACP begin?

ACP was started in 2004 by independent filmmaker Linda Goode Bryant and a group of volunteers who believe art and new media are our 21st century tools for causing change.

With images and sounds we create we dont have to rely on others to tell our stories, represent our interests, act on our behalf. We can do it ourselves! And we can reach and work with people all over the world without leaving our chairs.

With a pen, pad and postage stamp, your cell phone, smart phone and mouse, you can create your own messages and document events and present them to the world over ACPs websites and in public installations in ACP cities. As we grow in numbers, our images and our sounds the peoples voices will be everywhere in our communities, throughout our nation and the world.

In ACP cities, you can be part of Open Caucus and Action Cooperatives to start change with images, sounds and actions that improve our mutual well-being. You can stop at the ACP Peoples Video Stand in your community to add your perspectives and actions on Causing Change videos.
